DayZ Adventures from last weekend (2/7-2/9)

This weekend was ACTION packed. I sat in my computer chair and played video games ALL weekend. I parked by car on Friday night after work, and did not get back into it until Monday morning at 8AM. These days, for some weird reason, that defines a perfect weekend for me. I'm not sure if I am turning into a recluse, or am just sick of socializing. Anyways, I finally got into some AWESOME DayZ action. I had been playing a character during the week (last week) here and there, and had a pretty geared dude with a rifle and handgun, plenty of ammo and food. I was a strong survivor, but had yet to meet much opposition. I like to lurk in the shadows of night servers, and avoid contact with other players. Although I'd love to meet new people and team up to pursue other bandits, it isn't easy to trust anyone in this game.

DAY 1
So, I was set up to do some serious fighting, and had my cousin Dave to assist me. We were both on ventrillo together, so we could chat while playing but nobody would hear our voices in game. We decided to go up to the northeast airfield and lay low back in the woods. After about 5 minutes or so, we got bored. So we carefully made our way down from the woods to the actual air base tower, keeping our eyes peeled for other bandits. The server we were on was heavily populated, and it only takes one shot from a sniper to end your life. We went into the main tower and I waited downstairs while Dave checked upstairs for any loot. The building was already cleared out, and I knew we had to be on the move quick. My cousin Dave was dicking around upstairs with his rifle, I think trying to put different attachments on his Mosin. It was funny, because right before we made contact with another bandit, I told Dave that we need to get moving, that something didn't feel right.  All of the sudden, I hear a gun reloading sound.  This sound happens either when A)You or someone nearby is reloading their gun or B)When someone spawns, that sound automatically plays. So I instantly start barking at Dave, "Yo Dave!! Are you reloading!? Dude is that you!!??", and he replies with "No! It isn't!!" and we both go quiet. I hear footsteps outside the building, and realize we are finally in for an encounter. Now, at this point, you can choose two paths. I could have spoke up in the game and told the guy we were friendly and didn't want any problems. I also could have just waited for the guy to enter the building and shoot him in the face and see if he had any good loot. We decided to take the guy out. As Dave waited upstairs, I waited on the bottom, peeking around the corner looking at the door. I hear the footsteps get closer, hear gunshots and see a bandit out of the corner of my eye, BEHIND ME! The motherfucker must have hopped through a window to get into the building, instead of strolling through the door I was watching. So, now I'm dead and pissed. I tell Dave to be ready, the guy will be walking up the stairs right to him any second now. During this commotion, Dave decides to switch weapons, and the guy catches him mid-switch and lights him the fuck up with his machine gun. We are both dead. 2 versus 1. Owned. Embarrassed. All caught on tape (well my point of view was). So we talked about what happened, and learned alot. It was kind of late at night by this point, so we logged off for the night and made plans to begin again the next day.

DAY 2
Ok. The next day. I am geared, like really fucking geared. Dave is also really fucking geared. Dave has a M4A1 with tons of ammo, and I was rocking two pistols, a magnum and a FNX45. We were scouting out the northeast airfield once again, silently stalking. We were at the hangars, and I spot a bandit running from the tree line down to the air force tower that I died in the night before. One thing about DayZ that really is amazing is the RUSH you get, because you spend so much time gearing your toon, you really try to be careful because when you die, your dead for good. So, seeing another bandit INSTANTLY gets your heart pumping.  We strategically place ourselves at the back corner of one of the hangars, waiting for the bandit to exit the tower. Finally, after the bandit loots the building, he comes running out, totally oblivious, towards the hangars. I tell Dave that I am going to pop out first and unload my 45 mag on him, and Dave will back me up with his machine gun. I pop out from the corner of the hangar, and put all six shots from my clip all over the bandit. He doesn't drop, and Dave peeks out as well and throws a couple shots his way. The bandit is bleeding heavily, but retreats back towards the air tower he first came from. We pause for a minute, and then decide to pursue before he can get bandaged up. We knew that he was hurt pretty bad, and most likely will go down quick with a shot or two. So, Dave and I head towards the building, with Dave leading because he has a much better gun than me at this point. We peak around the corner of the tower, and see the bandit under a tree bandaging. Dave pops out and unloads his M4 on him. Lights out. High fives go back and forth. We just killed our FIRST BANDIT as a team!! Like I said above, the rush you get from this game in these situations is UNMATCHED by any other game I've played before. Turns out that guy had a M4 as well, so now Dave and I are geared up even more. We take what we can from his body, and head further east towards the ocean and a huge shipwreck we saw earlier that night. GOLDMINE. I really hate typing this info, but yeah, the shipwreck up in the northeast corner of the map is LOADED with some good loot. Either that, or it was our lucky day. Dave and I found ammo, scopes, gear and two SKS rifles, which is like an semi-auto Mosin. FUCK YEAH! I decided to keep the M4 and Dave took the SKS for sniper support, seeing he had a scope for it. With our new gear and big egos, we head back up to the NE air force base to do some hunting. We soon find ourselves in a similar situation, as we wait silently on the edge of the woods for bandits going to loot the air towers. We see a bandit, who looks well geared, heading for a tower. Dave and I decide to take strategic positions on each side of a wall near the building, so we can see which way he decides to exit the building. We are up near the hangars, so we know once this bandit finishes looting this building his next stop will be right towards us. Finally, we see him exit the building. I was at the south end of a wall to provide cover, while Dave was at the north end. He was headed towards Daves end, and once he gets close Dave pops out and empties 2 rounds into him... yah that's right...2 rounds. Dave forgot to tell me he only had 2 rounds for his weapon, so Daves shots weren't lethal and the guy just lights Dave up. I'm watching from the south wall, waiting to cover. The guy runs up on Daves body and I pop out and blast off with my M4. I must have shot everywhere around this bandit, because he just turned towards me while I was firing, I heard a couple shots, and my screen was black. We just got dominated by one guy! And we knew he was coming! Total embarrassment! After discussing the terrible outcome, we thought of different approaches to that type of situation. First of all, I reminded Dave to have a fully loaded weapon before pursuing someone head on. If I knew he was rocking a gun with 2 bullets, I would have never even tried to kill the bandit. I also came to the conclusion that shooting someone in the back, when they are running away from you, is way better than shooting someone as they run at you. Pursuing them from behind will let you get shots off at them first, and if you don't kill them, you can drop back and reload without worrying about getting yourself killed. After that catastrophe, we took a break from DayZ for the rest of the weekend. Either way, we had TONS of fun and I cannot wait to fuck some bandits up after work today! I'm going to find water, a can of beans, to the ship and then up to the airbase. Bring it on, bandits!

MASSIVE MUSIC UPDATE

So, I got home from work last night and literally just slept until I woke up this morning. Boring life. But, when I woke up and began my trek through the snowy wastelands of New York, I was delighted to see so many new JAMS on my Soundcloud feed. Check these bad boys out...

MAJA LAZA! I love the middle-eastern type sound in this, and it reminded me of another jam from a while back, give it a listen... I fucking love BeatauCue. Always have. I would highly suggest checking out their soundcloud page, they have such an amazing range of tunes. They make everything from house to trap, dubstep and even some moombah, like the track above. I really love these guys!

Tomorrow is V-Day, and its about that time we get a new Luvstep mix from Dirty South Joe and Flufftronix! I think this will be Luvstep V, and these mixes are always FUCKING AMAZING! I feel like these two guys really were pioneers of making a genre of dubstep that isn't vicious and angry, more laid back and lovely. This seems to be a new remix and I'm positive they will drop it on Saturday night (2/15/14) on Diplo & Friends. With this giant snowstorm coming, I know I'll be relaxing with my girlfriend listening.

And then I went #OneDeeper

Here is a new track from this producer Kygo, who has such a different style. I read that he is doing his first tour in the US soon, and I took a minute to imagine what his set would be like. His music is very peaceful, almost sounding like some old school Japanese stuff that would be playing in a shogun temple. I would definitely like to check him out if he comes anywhere near NY.

WHAT DA HOOK GON BE?

I am feeling nostalgic today. So, this post will be dedicated to the jams from the early 2000's and even late 1990's. These tracks were fire then, and they still are damn good. It sucks that rap has been so shitty lately, and I don't care what anyone says. Kendrick Lamar sucks. I will never forget, like a year ago, reading some article about his debut being compared to Ready To Die or Illmatic...haha COME ON MAN! NO WAY! Anyways, check out these jams...throwback city biiiiiiatch!

This track was fire...what happened to the St. Lunatics?

I wish Kanye just stuck to making beats. I remember bumping this song in my moms mini-van like i was a BOSS.

I never meant to give you mushrooms girl...

Feel good music.

SOME PEOPLE ONLY SEE THAT IM WHITE IGNORIN SKILL, CAUSE I STAND OUT LIKE A GREEN HAT WITH A ORANGE BILL,BUT I DONT GET PISSED, Y'ALL DONT EVEN SEE THROUGH THE MIST, HOW CAN I BE WHITE? I DONT EVEN EXIST...

New music to start the week off with..

i know y'all gonna like dis shit!

Here's a new mix my dude Dillon Francis did for the TripleJ radio, loving the *DIPSET* he threw in there.

#OneDeeper
This track really is a fucking banger, FYI.

Mr. Carmack proving us with some of that silky smooth space-trap. I can dig it.

Here is a deep house jam with some Outkast vocals mixed in. Supposedly this song was submitted from an "unknown" producer, but if I had to guess who it was , I'd go with someone from the French Express label (Perseus, Moon Boots, Isaac Tichauer) or maybe Duke Dumont? Maybe? WHO KNOWS?!

Glitch Hop. Itch Glop. Hotch Glip. Very glitchy.

This remix make a nigga think he bein chased through da jungle.

Some of that fast paced wub wub wub !

Sick remix of a track by one of my all time favs, Beataucue. FUCK YEAH!

AND THE MONDAY THROWBACK JAMS....

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP! Huge throwback track from Bart B More. Damn, I used to love this shit when it first dropped.

Perfection of gnarly dubstep with some high pitched female vocals. This type of remix shows you why Zeds Dead were on their way to the upper echelon of dance musique. ZD BABY

BUT FIRST...LEMME TAKE A #SELFIE. ENOUGH SAID.

JFK from MSTRKRFT is a living legend. I like Bird Peterson too, so now listen to some tracks from their new record label.

Speaking of Bird Peterson, here is a dope ass old school rap mix he made a few months ago, I think sometime last summer. Sippin on dat lean'

Sticking with the rap thing...this new track produced by A-Trak aka Trizzy Turnt Up with KILLA CAMERON GILES aka Camron on the vocals is HOT FIRE! Reminds me of the good ol days when I was bumpin Purple Haze with my boys in like 12th grade. Cheers.
