WHY AM I OBSESSED WITH TWITCH.TV?

I've known about Twitch.TV for a while. I never understood why people would enjoy watching people play videos games. Why not play the game yourself? Recently, I have found myself watching TONS of Twitch.TV and even trying out my own stream. So, in this post I want to go over my favorite streamers on Twitch, and talk about my stream and what I plan to do with it.

SUMMIT
www.twitch.tv/summit1g

Summit is one of the first dudes I stumbled upon while browsing Twitch. I guess the guy is a former Counterstrike pro, so I assume his large following must have been from his CS days. He is now retired from competitive play and streams full time on Twitch. I've watched this guy for 30 minute intervals and literally seen him get over $2,000 in donations. FUCKING INSANE! He is kind of funny at times, and provides good insight into the games he plays. One of the main reasons I purchased DayZ SA was from watching him play. I usually troll his channels and say things like "Yo Summit, remember all the weed we used to smoke together back in the good ol days?" , and he always replies back and is like "Umm nah Backwoods. Nah.". Either way he responded, so my troll wins. He was definetly the first guy I followed and even threw him a $2 donation. If you check out his stream, you will see he has multiple donators, with the top donator BigHerp. BigHerp has donated this guy over $20,000! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! Anyways, when I watch this guy consistently stream with over 3,000 viewers, raking in cash for playing video games, I realize that I am alot cooler than this guy, have a better personality, and with a proper fan base: CAN BE THE #1 TWITCH STREAMER!

TOWELLIEE
So, Towelliee is another big time streamer on Twitch. His stream can sometimes be funny, crazy to watch is guild raid in WoW. He also reminds me of someone I know I think, but just can't figure out who. He is very similar to the other streams I watch, and is extremely goofy looking just like Summit.

SODAPOPPIN

Sodapoppin is the SUPERSTAR of Twitch.TV. He usually plays WoW, and is known for being obnoxious and a virgin. He has a huge fanbase of little girls who worship him. Definetly don't wanna follow in his footsteps, but he is funny as hell sometimes.

ok so now here is my idea...
First of all, I need to figure out the best way to advertise my name and get a following. Putting your time in is definetly something you can do, but in order to be the best, I imagine some kind of act of god must happen. So, until I'm famous I will just troll the above 3 streams until they get me followers. Originally I had ideas of maybe having a Friday night show or something, but that takes too much planning. It is way easier to just sit back in your computer chair and act normal, while people watch you play. I'm not really the most vocal gamer, while some of these dudes are constantly talking while playing. I'm not sure if they always narrate everything they do, but for me, that doesn't happen naturally. So, I've been working on doing that better and just talking to the camera, because even though I usually only have one viewer, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
check out my stream, almost every night I'll be on!

What to do this summer?

These dark, cold winter months are growing old. Being a lifelong New Yorker, winter has never appealed to me. I went skiing a few times as a kid, but deciding a day of skiing is not worth the wind burnt fucking face. I do enjoy ice fishing, but I'd rather be FISHING in the middle of a lake in a BOAT when its 80 degrees out. So, this blog is about how to deal with winter; by dreaming about SUMMER! Now, you might ask for someone who hates winter so much, why not move somewhere warmer? Well, due to certain situations I've put myself into, A) I do not have any money saved to move anywhere B) I have no degree so applying to jobs in another state or country would not be easy because you cannot do anything without a degree anymore C) I enjoy being angry and miserable so even though I hate winter, I secretly love it.

SUMMER

Ok, now lets talk about summer and everything we wanna do! We = my beautiful girlfriend and MYSELF. Isn't she beautiful!? So, initially we were planning on going to Costa Rica in the spring, but our plans have changed a bit. By March 1, we plan to move into an apartment together in Albany! So yea, we gotta save our mulah for that shit. WE ARE BOTH SUPER EXCITED because after almost a year and a half of long distance, we can see each other on a daily basis, not just weekends. wE areeEee sooOoo in loOooovee. Ok enough of the love bullshit, because Natasha and I mean business this summer. We are going to make 2014 our BEST YEAR yet. We are just gonna dominate this summer and do every single activity possible. Last fall we started hiking different mountains in the Adirondacks with my Aunt Colleen and a wide assortment of family/friends. Every time we had a FUCkING BLAST! So I definitely want to climb more mountains this summer, and just spend more time in the ADKS in general.

Most of the PLUR fam ontop of Mothafucka Mountain in the ADKS.
Summer will probably start with a bang, because I know I'll end up going to Mysteryland at the end of May with the PLUR FAM! ~update: $300 for a Sat/Sun pass + camping = GET THE FUCK OUT BRO. NOT GOING~ Anyone who is close to me understands that I have over a million hobbies, gaining new ones almost on a daily basis. This summer I've decided to touch on some old hobbies, something to GIVE ME A RUSH! So, as summer nears I may buy a new BMX bike and head into my family's sand pit with some heavy equipment. I used to ride bikes constantly with my friends up until around 16, once we got our licenses we stopped pedaling. Now that I am a bit older, I have thought about how lucky I am to live on 100 acres of land, and I definitely want to take advantage of that this summer. Hoping that my family will allow me to operate some heavy machinery that I was not allowed to use in my teens, building a dirt jumping course or even a race track through the woods will be ALOT EASIER! I get so damn excited even thinking about this, I CANNOT WAIT FOR SUMMER! I would even want to build the trails to have friends come over and ride, because I'd love to get some sick pictures and videos and maybe make something cool with it. So the word is out y'all, Backwoods Trails coming soon.
This is the bike I'm thinking of buying, something that will handle my fat ass but nothing insanely expensive.
Talk to ya later!

~~ WiNtEr JaMzZzZ~~

Wassup baby? Its dat boy Ski Bird providin them infamous ~~ WiNtEr JaMzZzZ~~ to keep ya body warm through them cold months. Ya heard?

I have a huge crush on Alex Metric lately. This is a super sweet mix of tunes he has been listening to on the road as of late. I love these chill-out type mixes, and this one is great to kick back with. Hipsters love nu-disco.
Herro my name isa herry fong and i come from Florida. Yo, the original is a tight track but this Destructo remix is sick! My man takes this electro banger and remixes it into some tech house ear funk for your soul. Must listen, cannot wait for the full track to be released. Soul Food bro! Mr. Flash has been around FOREVER! I remember seeing his name on the Ed Banger Rec Vol. 1 album, and didn't really understand his style then. Last night I pulled up the album from 2007 and listened to the Mr. Flash track on it, and was like wow...this sound is fucking huge today! Fast forward to 2014...and you can hear the funk coming from all directions. There are tons of guys ruling the scene using the funky sample-driven, dubstep whomp formula such as Pretty Lights, Gramatik, Griz, ExMag, etc.
Check out the youtube video of this Mr. Flash track from 2007 while your here, you can see what I'm talking about.

This song equals HAPPINESS! One of my Favorite tracks off the EP Oliver put out in early 2013, this remix is PERFECT! I love the funky bassline and the high pitched synths, which goes together perfectly with the voice samples they used in the remix. Gimme some more of dat!

Ok, here is a Thursday Throwback track...my all time favorite DJ Avicii and my 2nd all time favorite song behind Levels. Enjoy.

Welcome to the world of Shaye Saint John

ok. watch this video.

ok. now watch this one.

ok now one more.

if you now fully understand what the fuck is going on in these videos, you are full of shit. because no one knows what the fuck is going on in these videos. not even the person who made them. this is shaye saint john and she made like mad youtube videos. now that you are properly introduced, scan her youtube channel and prepare to feel uncomfortable. =)

I was randomly searching youtube one day at work, and came across these weird ass videos. The first one I saw was "The Hand Thing". I was like wow, this is great, and continued to watch. After becoming very uncomfortable from watching this weird shit, I began to think about what or who the fuck was making these WEIRD ASS VIDEOS. I like to think that I am weird sometimes, but dude this is some weird shit. Most of the videos contain Shaye, the weird mask creature with a wig. I did some research, and supposedly these videos were made by some hopeful actress who lived somewhere in California (I think LA) but was burned very badly (like picture 2-face from that batman jumpoff), which crushed his/her (?) acting hopes and gave birth to this creature we see in these youtube videos. In some of the videos you see Shaye wandering the streets, and it definetly looks like some upscale town in the hills of California, but something just isn't right. At first I thought these videos would be funny or kind of make more sense the more you watched, but this is sadly not true. The more you watch, the more confused you get. So, when you have some extra time today, sit back and force yourself to watch Shaye Saint John videos for like 30 minutes and then come back to this blog and comment your thoughts. I'd also like to touch on how weird it is that these videos suddenly STOPPED. I think there are ~57 videos on the youtube page, and the last upload was 6 years ago. It seems that they were being regularly updated for a while, but I'm unsure why they stopped. Rumor is that Shaye died, but its real hard to find any sources or news about this. So, in the spirit of weird ass shit, I'll post a link to my other all time favorite WEIRD youtube video.

I FEEL FANTASTIC HEY HEY HEY

Fucking weird, right!? Supposedly this was made by a serial killer, and the mannequin is wearing clothes of the victims, and the shot of the backyard towards the end of the video is where the victims were buried. Now, make sure you watch this video right before you go to sleep tonight.  -ski bird

LATHER!

Läther

Läther - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So, last weekend was an interesting musical journey for me. I had a very late night Saturday, and spent a lot of time exploring some new tunes. That's when I came across this gem. Lather is a 1996 album by Frank Zappa, the fucking original bad boy of classic rock. If you never gave him a listen, and you like humorous lyrics accompanied with insane instrumental classical rock, check this dude out! This is his sixty fifth studio album! 65 fucking albums! That's insane! This album touches on a bunch of songs that I really like, especially Re-gyptian Strut, Broken Hearts are for Assholes and RDNZL. Check it out if your a fan of Zappa, or if your are just trying to find something different. Here is a link to a YouTube of the whole album.

FRANK ZAPPA - LATHER (ENTIRE ALBUM)

Before I forget...

So, I just wanted to share this DJ mix by Alex Metric that he did for OWSLA, and a remix by the allmighty Jonas Rathsman that I heard first in this set. Alex opens with the beautiful track Panama-Always (Classixx remix) and just gets better as it goes on. The whole vibe of the mix really makes you want to relax on a beach somewhere, or atleast be somewhere warm. Since I am NY, this isn't a reality for me, but whatever! Really one of my favorite mixes so far in 2014, and the Rathsman remix is a MUST LISTEN. skibird, paz.

HEARTHSTONE OPEN BETA!

Go check out Battle.net and sign up for the free beta RIGHT NOW!

WHATS UP MOTHAFUCKAS? Aw man, I really wish I wasn't sitting at work right now! Other than just not wanting to be here, I have a new reason to despise leaving mi casa: Hearthstone. So, this is a new game from Blizzard, the creators of 98% of lifes necessities (These guys made Warcraft, Starcraft, World of Warcraft and of course DIABLO...so besides those games you need a computer and some food and your set for life).

I hopped on the beta last night around 9:30. It was cool to see the new Blizzard "launcher" being beta tested for Hearthstone. It combines all of your Blizzard games into one simple page, so you can just launch and update games easily. The initial game download was around ~1 GB, and then you had to install around ~800MB of patches. Launching the game was awesome, I always love to see new Blizzard cinematics. The tutorial of the game sets you against 5 computer characters. Blizzard chose to start us (the beta testers) with a mage. It is really fucking cool how they incorporated all of the graphics and sounds from previous Warcraft titles. So, as a mage, you recognize tons of spells/minions/abilities if your familiar with Blizzard games. The game is a lot like Magic the Gathering, being that it is a card game, where you draw a card each hand, and control your character who has a set amount of hit points. The major difference from Hearthstone and Magic is that there are no "land" cards in H.S., but at the beginning of each turn you actually gain a mana crystal, which pays for creatures and spells you cast.
So, if you are on your 8th turn, you should have at least 8 mana crystals at your disposal at the beginning of that turn. There are also cards, like in MTG, that can add mana to your pool, making your army powerful a lot faster. There is also in-game deck editing, which I thought was wicked cool and user friendly. It is basically just a click and drag interface, for almost every aspect of the game. It was definitely made with the intention that you could pick it up and learn how to play almost instantly. After playing for about 2 hours last night, I realized that this game requires more skill than I previously thought. As you begin to play online against other people, you gain experience and gold. The experience will level your character up, and at certain levels you unlock other playable characters to battle with. From as far as I got last night, the gold you earn was used for buying new packs of cards, which from what I saw, are 5 to a pack. These packs are then added to each characters card bank, and you can go and custom build 30 card decks. I am eager to get the fuck outta work and battle tonight!

I also was downloading Eve Online while I was at work all day yesterday, and was able to log on and play the game for about an hour. This is an open space MMORPG type game, and it seems insane! You choose a character and board a space ship, and the rest of the game is totally up to you. I just began the tutorial quests, which taught me how to fly and attack, and harvest supplies. From what I've heard, the game is VERY advanced, and you can manipulate almost every aspect of the game world. I am excited to play it some more, I got it for a 14 day trial, and maybe if I really enjoy it I'll make the purchase. Life is so tough though, because there are so many video games but so little time!

OK , I'm done writing for now. I am going to try to end every blog with some music, so check out what I got for today...some Ski Bird Drum and Bass Chillout Jams...Paz =)

UPDATE

I am sitting at my desk at work staring out onto the barren wasteland that is Albany, New York. I am pretty sure its fucking -2 outside. I forgot I started this stupid little blog! Summer nights are much better than fucking winter days! Anyways, I wanted to use this post as a little update to whats going on in my life. I am moving into a new place hopefully around March 1st with my lovely lady @Natashakrolo_ ! We are looking to move into a nicer part of Albany, either uptown or downtown in the Center Square neighborhood. We are trying to get a dope 2 BR spot, and the second bedroom is gonna be MY COMPUTER LAIR  (hopefully). With that being said, I've kinda gotten obsessed with gaming again. I've always been obsessed, but during the winter months my playing time reaches an all time peak. I mean, what the fuck else is there to do? So, lately I've been playing tons of different games. Almost too many, but thats not a bad thing. I also have set up my streaming account, with Twitch.TV. For anyone who doesn't understand what streaming is, I'll explain. I run a program on my computer that records my actual computer monitor, showing whatever game I'm playing. I also have a mic and webcam set up, so you can hear my beautiful voice narrate and see my beautiful face gaze into the computer screen as I pwn n00bs.
DayZ has been my game of choice lately, and it is SO FUCKING FUN! It is the first survival FPS I've ever played, and its mad realistic. You gotta feed your dude so he isn't hungry, purify water you take out of streams so you don't get sick, and clean your weapons so they shoot straight. I really enjoy trekking through a HUGE map to get supplies, and in a half of a second have all of your work be worthless because you stepped into the line of sight of a bandit with a sniper rifle. Another great aspect of the game is the world chat, where you can just chat with random people while playing and hear what type of weird shit they have to say. Anyways, you can get to my stream at www.twitch.tv/backwoods518th !

If I can work up a miracle and stream to thousands of viewers per night, maybe I can quit my day job and just be a full time video game player. I've been working hard to think of ideas to maybe generate a fanbase, but its not as easy as you think. I might try giveaways to lure people in and then charm them with my witty comments and amazingly good looks. There are so many "big time" streamers such as Toweliee and Summit, that literally stream themselves playing video games, accept Paypal donations the whole time, and also get paid by sponsors to run commercials during their streams. The only thing I don't have going for me, is some of the streamers are like "pro-gamers" and had a big following from YouTube or some other shit before they even hit Twitch TV. There some, like SodaPoppin, who just blew up randomly though, and thats what I gotta hope happens. Ok, I gotta get back to work. Thanks for reading!
PS:
Also, heres a link to a new JAM from Sluggers. They did a remix for the Diplo track Revolution. I love where the song is headed in the first 1:30 ish, and kinda wish the drop followed that dark, robot like beat rather than the chopped vocals drop with limited bass. Either way, I dig the song ! Check out the other remixes while you are at it. Make sure to check out Sluggers new EP as well, the originals are remixes are fucking dirty tech house nastiness!
