Bassnectar at Bisco 2012 (because I'm lazy and didn't find a picture from this year)
Post Bisco Depression: A severe sense of sadness following one of the most amazing weekends of the summer. Damn Bisco...you fucking rocked my socks! What an epic 3 days of music...and very good vibes! This year was my first Bisco, and I've heard a lot of mixed reactions to the festival as a whole. I'm happy to have experienced it myself, and now I can issue my own judgement. A lot of people have told me that Bisco is known for its drug use, wookie population, and dirty ass conditions. While there was plenty of mud there this year, and plenty of drugs, it seems it was all in perfect balance. I didn't see too many people being wheeled off on carts or twitching on the ground, which was cool because that can definetly ruin my vibe. Overall, the highlights of my weekend were Bassnectar on Friday night, Zeds Dead on Saturday night, the Disco Biscuits Friday sets, Strip Steve playing that deep house funk early Thursday afternoon, and those insane ferris wheel rides with my PLUR CREW! It was awesome to see so many musicians and DJ's in the same weekend, and because of this I think it proves why Bassnectar may just be in a league of his own. I honestly can say that no other DJ all weekend came close to bringing the same amount of energy to their set as Loren did. I mean, he literally broke the fucking main stage he was playing on...thats a lot of bass dude. His transitions were flawless, and I was most impressed with him opening with one of my all time favorite bangers, the track H.A.L. by my boy SebastiAn.
DESTROID was absolutely insane Friday night, and from what I hear people were going crazy up near the front of the stage. Major moshing. I was more of a peaceful, groovy mood, so the moshing wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Dillon Francis, Baauer, and Flosstradamus were all a lot of fun to see live as well. I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR! #PLUR
Zeds Dead hits us with a new chill-out joint that goes back to their old school roots. Close your eyes and you'd sware this was a track from ZD's earlier catalogue. With them soothing female vocals and generally chilled out feeling to this track, it isn't exactly banger status but it'll make you feel happy that this duo doesn't stray from the sound that made us love them in the first place.Zeds Dead - By Your Side (Soundcloud Link)
